The Challenge We Must Overcome

With the support of donors like you, we are establishing schools in areas of India where there is no government assistance available to its citizens. We work alongside non-governmental organizations (NGO’s) in areas where the standard of living is extremely low, with people living in housing that was common back in the medieval period. Many of the children in these communities live without clothing and other basic needs year-round.

In the villages where we work, the nearest medical help is frequently so far away that is almost impossible for the sick and frail to reach it during emergences or even for the most basic medical care. It is common for pregnant women and their newborn babies to die from lack of medical attention in these impoverished areas.

In the poorest parts of the country, there are handicapped people who must drag them selves around, dependent on the others for handouts and mundane jobs. These people are often considered social outcasts. Unable to gain employment, they scavenge food and clothing thrown out by others.

“If we could ask these people their wishes, they would cry their hearts out. Even they have dreams, ambitions, they too would like to eat good food, wear good clothes, go places to see and do whatever a normal human being would do. All they want is to be like us, by they are helpless to change their circumstances on their own.”

There are other outcasts too. These people do not have parents or families; many don’t even know the names of their parents. Orphaned at a young age, their childhood is spent hanging out at bus stops, railway stations and on the streets in the cities. They survive by stealing pursed, pick pocketing and are sometimes murdered over petty sums of money. These children grow up in a life of crime and prostitution, suffering sexual exploitations from people who employ them as housemaids and dishwashers.

The children born of these outcasts, are thrown away ans once again the vicious cycle begins again. Some of these young mothers sell things on the street by day and then sell themselves to the passengers riding the trains and busses at night.

With your help we can changes the lives of these people. We are opening hostels and homes for those people who are so challenged by handicaps and society. We intent to provide a safe haven for as many of these people as we can and we are already serving 19 individuals in this project.
